Excavation is a richly layered encaustic painting exploring depth, memory, and materiality. Built up through multiple applications of molten wax infused with pigment, the surface is then carefully incised to reveal glimpses of vivid primary colors beneath a dominant veil of white. The resulting abstract composition evokes geological strata, archaeological digging, or the uncovering of buried emotion. Textural and tactile, this work invites close inspection and contemplation. Finished on an 8 x 8 inch cradled wood panel, it is ready to hang.
